ARCHIVED NEWS

September 29th, 2008

This is just a note to everyone interested in the recent happenings of Günther and what is to come with the release of "Nuclear Stallions". Our bass player, Scott Munro, will be moving to Vancouver for a while and our activity in terms of shows will be sparse. That being the case, we will still be working at creating music and bringing it to new audiences as we plan to tour in this time and return to the studio. You are encouraged to be patient with us. We appreciate all of the love, respect and support of everyone we have met and have known over the past few years. Rest assured we will be back in full force by next summer, so stay tuned! P.S. Buy the album.

If the announcement of us finally releasing our full length, 2 years in the making, wasn't enough for all of you ardent Günther fans, we have more tasty news. We have just completed recording and mixing for a 7" vinyl release due to be released in the fall with brand new material. We have also confirmed No More Shapes as well as Lakesong Press label companions Azeda Booth for the August 30th CD release show. So keep your ears to the ground and noses in the air for more deliciously scrumptious happenings!

It has been a long time coming but the new album "Nuclear Stallions" is completed and the CD release party is now booked for August 30th. We are still ironing out the final lineup for the show but it will no doubt be an incredible show. Thanks to everyone for all the support and who helped make this cd happen. See you at the end of August.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Günther knows not how to express these complex feelings we are experiencing. Many people + much love + boat loads of rock = awesome fundraiser! Thanks to all the bands. Thanks to F.A.R.M. Thanks to the stetson, but mostly thanks to all the people who came down to support us. It just about made me cry and it did make me puke (in a good way). Were hoping to do a CD release in Jan so stay tuned to see (or hear) where your money went. We love you.

Günther needs your help! Because of the monetary difficulties in putting out an independent full length and a lot of demand by fans who want to do anything possible to get the record out sooner we are having a Günther Fundraising/Colin's Birthday extravaganza!!! We are going to have it at The Stetson and we are really excited we already have The Summerlad and Azeda Booth on the bill with maybe more bands added. It's going to be the most Bad-Ass Bash this fall so please keep Oct 13 free to come down, buy Colin a shot, and support your favorite local instrumentalists. Günther hearts you.

-We are poor.
-We're looking for a label.
-We are gonna mix right away with what we have saved so far, but we still need to master and press after that.
-We love all of you so much for supporting us by coming to shows and buying what little merch we have.
-We will continue to finish as we save up the cash and get it out as soon as possible.
Günther loves you!

Sorry all, there's been a scheduling mishap and it seems we have to cancel our booking at the Castle on the 23rd of September. It's unfortunate but you can still catch us at The Underground the following week on September 30th. Also watch for THWOMP, the band dedicated to bringing you delicious soundtracks from all of your favorite old nintendo games! We play as part of the RAMP show at Broken City October 5th. Cheers!

We have almost fully completed the recording for the album this past week and are quite happy with the results. There is still a lot left to do in terms of mixing and mastering but it's definately coming along. We anticipate a release early in the new year, perhaps a bit sooner but we're looking to get some support from a label as well so it may also depend on the outcome of that. On another note, it doesn't seem we are involved with the Fringe Fest this year as we had previously thought. We don't quite know what happened there but that means you won't see us live at all until early September. We could use a bit of a break anyway after recording. That's all for now, but keep checking the site for news and show updates. Cheers!

Hello Champions! We have not posted any news updates for some time so we've decided to fill you in on some new happenings. First of all, our sights are set on recording the new full-length album with Arran Fisher (of Summerlad fame) in August. We have recorded pre-production demos of the songs to be chosen for the album for the sake of getting ideas and sounds for the actual recording. A sample can be heard on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/guunther). We also have some shows coming up with a couple of excellent bands from B.C. that we are excited about, so check out our listings and sample some of their music. Also, we are tentatively booked for the Calgary Fringe Festival (www.calgaryfringe.ca) taking place on 17th ave from August 11-20. We will update you with dates and times ASAP. Last but not least, we are still planning a tour once we have finished the album, so we will update you on that as well as things begin to take shape. That's all for now. Keep on truckin'.

Greetings! Günther transmission incoming. First off, we are going to be live on CJSW 90.9 fm tonight from Midnight until 2 so be sure to tune in your radio dials. Second, you can now download the album off of itunes from here . It seems you can only get it by album and not song at the moments but we're looking into that. Third, we got a show on Sat at the HO in Canmore which I think is actually the first official outta town gig. And lastly we have tentative plans to record a full length album this July. Hopefully your as excited about it as we are. Rock on!

February 1st, 2006

Ahoy! Once again we find ourselves with a change of plans for the next Günther show on February 7th at Broken City. It has been moved to the 23rd and we will be playing with Miopus and the Suicide Boys. Just a handy reminder to avoid any unfortunate confusion. We have a few other shows coming up in February so take a good ol' gander at the shows section and see what ye might find!

Howdy All. Well...(drum roll)...its here. If you can believe it, the ep is finally finished. We think it looks and sounds awesome so come out to a show near you and pick one up. No word on the official release party yet. We want to play with The Summerlad so it may be pushed back as far as late sept, but if you really want to get your hands on a copy, we'd love to sell you one. Or you can go down to everyone's favorite record store Sloth and buy one for $7, or even Megatunes or Melodia. Hope to see you out there.

In the meantime, Carbon Media will be re-designing this site so check back often! Oh, and The Spring Issue have finally finished their demo, so check that out!
